Sophie spent many years volunteering with TramShed before joining the Arts Practitioner Team, and is also now also working in children’s residential homes.

  • Coz Tams

    ARTS PRACTITIONER

Coz is an Independent Dance Artist with over 20 years of experience in creating and performing live works in theatrical, social and outdoor environments. Training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Commercial and Modern Dance, led Coz to perform with several dance troupes and companies, in cabaret, festival and theatrical venues throughout the UK.

Early career involvement within small scale theatre practice saw Coz develop skills in dance performance, choreography and facilitation; and also in light, sound, scenic and costume design and creation. Later, these skills were used to develop other artists and acts through workshops, rehearsal directing and promoting knowledge sharing.

Co-producing a children’s workshop, which saw professional artists sharing abilities and experience with children and young people, solidified the desire to improve arts provision in differing settings. Involvement in early years education led to utilizing dance to promote movement development in very young children and the creation of a series of workshops, exploring children’s literature through dance. Coz has also been involved in dance research projects, investigating the impact of dance provision in early years education and its effect on wellbeing.

A keen interest in dance science influenced further learning into dance for health projects, including dance for neurological conditions and dance prehabilitation programs. Her goal is to create spaces for safe and inclusive dance practice.

Coz has a BA (Hons) in Dance Performance and Teaching, and is a professional member of One Dance UK, People Dancing and Progressing Ballet Techniques.
