Our TramShed
This week marks the last week of term at TramShed and brings our 15th Anniversary year to a close, and what a year it has been. We have had some incredible social and fundraising events from TramShed Voice, celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with our first live face-to-face performance in almost three years, launched Shed Stories Theatre in Education programme, delivered our first Gold Arts Award and looked back through magical TramShed content, with a filming experience to create a DVD ‘Together We Can’, seeing TramShed as we’ve never seen them before.
From the outside looking in, you probably think that TramShed is an organisation offering weekly performing arts workshops and investing time and energy into being as accessible as possible. Although that is indeed true, we are so much more. As you will have read throughout the last ten weeks, TramShed gives people a purpose, a challenge, a focus, a new way of thinking, a creative opportunity and most importantly, a family.
15 years in, I am still surprised, amazed, inspired and moved by the wonderful members we work with. Whether on stage, in a workshop, in a Zoom room or through a camera lense, the importance and brilliance of inclusive theatre is there for all to see. So, bring on the next chapter…(after a brief holiday of course)!
Our TramShed
Fifteen years, well where do you start, our memories in so many places. The highs, the lows, the barriers we’ve broken and connecting with so many faces.
A small idea, a new way of thinking, why shouldn’t we all be given choices. Well, that’s TramShed’s vision, our mission, our dream, the dream to amplify voices.
But what does it mean, what is it all for, if acceptance is only that moment in time. Why shouldn’t we dream, why shouldn’t we reach for more chances in our own lifetime.
We are only human, we are just one person, but footprints remain in the sand. So, make moments count, live with a kind heart, so inclusion unites hand in hand.
The house of TramShed is a community of wonder, where labels are left at the door. Creative communities, joining as one, to leave audiences wanting more.
Our leaders we follow with pride and faith, adventure at every turn. How wonderful to be in this inspirational place, giving more opportunities to learn.
So, the next chapter, what adventures come next, what moments to share lie ahead. One thing is for sure, this family we share, will always be our place, our TramShed.
