Money

Daniel and I thought the ‘ Money’ Outreach Project at Fleetwood High was really good. The fact that the students had contributed so much to the production was really important and this came across in their choice of music, actions and personal statements which sadly reflected their own experience of the topic.  We are sure the message of exploring all other options that are available when in debt will stand them in good stead in adulthood and when they have their own families. The standard of the production was really high and the opportunity to perform for their peers will build even more the confidence of the pupils. It was a real success for Fleetwood High School, Regenda and TramShed Outreach and we hope it will be a good example for future work with local high schools. – Kathleen & Daniel Paintin

Money

I thought the performance was very thought provoking and impactive. With a small group of young people, they demonstrated how money or the lack of it, along with the pressures of family life and modern living, can cause families to resort to doorstep loans with extortionate rates of interest, adding to their problems not solving them.  The young people seemed to enjoy the performance and I hope it will continue to have an impact as they perform it to other groups throughout the school. – Berni Ashworth

Money

I thoroughly enjoyed the production ‘Money’ performed by the students of Fleetwood High school. It was a thought provoking piece which was inspirational, addressing real life issues which sadly affect more and more people and families. The young people involved appeared to enjoy taking part and appeared proud of their achievements. I would highly recommend this show to a wide variety of people to help them appreciate real problems in today’s society. – Tina Murray

As with most TramShed productions, the message from this short outreach play was powerful and thought provoking and was delivered in such an innovative way. The subject was quite depressing but the young actors delivered the performance in a modern, sometimes amusing way which lightened the subject. It was great to see the children so proud of their performance which was very polished and professional. Another fantastic achievement to be proud of TramShed! – so glad we braved the torrential rain to watch. – Sally, Phoebe & Sam

At least the weather was never going to dampen the enthusiasm on Friday night at the theatre at Blackpool Sixth Form where TramShed Theatre was celebrating its tenth anniversary with a medley of highlights from previous shows. Having been a regular attendee for many years now, I’m aware of a need to find new superlatives to describe TramShed’s work. But it’s been an inspiration to see the project grow and grow, and find surer financial ground, over the past decade. I’m always conscious that for many of the participants, performing in front of an audience is nothing short of a daunting experience – and conquer that, then so much more in life is possible. Down the years, TramShed has explored important themes such as hate crime and bullying – and given people who might not otherwise feel they have a voice that opportunity. Zac Hackett, who acts as their creative dynamo, deserves praise not just praise for the shows he has delivered alongside the cast, but for his own determination to see the project thrive.Paul Maynard MP

Another inspirational show from the TramShed Team. Congratulations to everyone involved. Such fantastic work from the Arts Practitioner Team allowing every member to shine, from cheeky Ugly Bugs, back flipping bears, show stealing singing scarecrows to indescribable Irish dancing and the most enthusiastic face slap I’ve ever seen. It was a triumph. And I never thought someone pointing their finger could reduce me to tears. You are all amazing.Cath Nimz

I had to email and say what an incredible high quality piece of work we saw on Saturday night, and also what soul and integrity it had. Also how slick technically it was!!! Please pass on to the staff and members of the company what a wonderful night we had, and how amazing we thought they all were.Phil Fairhurst

TramShed is always hitting new heights, and with this special Blackpool-themed production, it provided not only dramatic action but an insight to what has shaped our seaside town down the years, and how it will shape our future. TramShed is less and less a ‘hidden gem’ and more more an established presence on the local arts scene. Paul Maynard MP

Absolutely fantastic performances from every member. Well done everyone! What a fabulous team!Cath Nimz

Fun of the Fair

Such a fantastic show. I loved every minute and thought that the characterisation was really strong; ducks, cheeky scouts, spoilt brats, doddery senior citizens, fun-loving Liverpudlians, self-important Councillors, hard-working fairground staff & crazy film crew! Genius, who’d have known you could have so much Fun At The Fair…. in Blackpool!! Thank you TramShed Team, brilliant. – Clare Hill

Yet another amazing show tonight. Thank you for giving Declan the opportunity to perform on stage. I can’t put into words what he gets out of being a part of TramShed. You are a massive part of his world. I thank each and everyone who supports him either at the workshops or during the shows. You are incredible!Carole Hirst

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

As a TramShed company member it was lovely to be on the audience side of the curtain to watch TramShed’s, Tram Stop company perform their first production. It is very challenging for anyone to perform on a stage, especially for the first time, but, Tram Stop company rose brilliantly to the challenge of a debut performance and were great!!! Having a lovely young man using British Sign Language alongside the dialogue added an extra level of poignancy to the storytelling of bullying and exclusion. I thought all the physical theatre pieces performed were absolutely lovely and emphasised yet again how often actions and movements are far more powerful than words in getting a difficult message across. There were ‘lump in the throat’ moments when the concepts of pain, despair, exclusion, help, support, trust, challenge, invitation, acceptance and inclusion were just so obvious it gave all the audience such a powerful message to take away and if need be act on! Well done Zac and team, and Tram Stop company you were wonderful. I was a very proud TramShed member. We look forward to the next production. Kathleen Paintin (Adult Company)

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

I thought See No Evil… was really great and the story made you sit up and think of not just yourself but of how words or actions can really effect on anyone who is unique. I found it very powerful and interesting. So pleased to have seen the new very talented Tram Stop cast and I feel so proud to have witnessed the truly thought provoking show.Charlotte Hamilton (Adult Company)

Sticks & Stones

Both Phil and I came along to your production last night at Blackpool Sixth Form as representatives from Blackpool Coastal Housing’s Tenant Project Fund. I just couldn’t leave it there without contacting you to say what a fantastic experience it was for each and every one of us that attended. Not only was it a great show to watch – but there was a mix of fun, laughter and tears! The tenants that came along were so pleased to have been invited – and it was great for them (and us) to see how the TPF money has helped your group put on the event.

From being part of the audience last night, it is evident that everyone involved in the production has worked really hard and enjoys being part of something – and on this occasion it was based on a really important message which I think you got across really well. On behalf of myself, Phil and our involved tenants – we would like to wish you all the very best and look forward to catching another of your shows in the futureSara Brabin – Involvement and Communications Manager – Blackpool Coastal Housing

General feedback

“We have attended all the shows my mum (Kath) and brother (Daniel) have been in, usually bringing my mother and father in law, my two children and husband; the shows are always creative and reflect the young peoples ideas and thoughts.” Anonymous

“My children (6 yrs and 3 yrs) loved watching their grandma and uncle on the stage! TramShed constantly challenge the adults with learning difficulties to be more active participants in the performance, through use of movement or communication aids and the young children have such fun being on stage wearing different costumes and singing and dancing.” Louise Teese – Blackburn

“I attended the TramShed Christmas show in December 2010 and found it a totally inspirational experience. I go to various theatre productions both amateur and professional and have never experienced such energy, commitment and enthusiasm from both the staff team and company members, who are clearly dedicated to their work. It is a humbling experience to see truly inclusive theatre within my own community and as a result I am thinking about joining as a volunteer. I cannot wait to see what they come up with for the summer show and will be telling all my friends to buy tickets!” Arts Enthusiast – Poulton-Le-Fylde

“The TramShed “Christmas Variety Show” was the most enjoyable event of the festive season for myself and my husband. We left the Thornton Little Theatre with huge smiles of pleasure. We have followed this group of wonderful people since the theatre group was started. To see the year on year progress is a joy to behold. It is obvious that all involved love what they are part of and to see them grow in confidence with each show proves without doubt the importance of inclusive theatre.” Anonymous

“The commitment of the practitioners is a credit to TramShed and the talent is without doubt in abundance. We look forward with pleasure to the summer show which we know will be original and created and written by the company & practitioners.” Sue & Tom Feely – Stafforshire

“There is nothing more inspiring and wonderful than watching a TramShed theatre production.  The enthusiasm and commitment that each member brings to the stage never fails to amaze me and the shows are original, creative and brilliantly put together.” Anonymous

“I love the ambition of the productions – each show seems to challenge the group even further and the members respond brilliantly giving even more than they have before.  TramShed is a terrific company and you can see how much everyone involved gets out of the whole experience.” Simon Paintin – Cheshire

“I have attended 3 of the TramShed shows and have found them extremely enjoyable and very well produced. I look forward to the summer and Christmas shows each year. From the young children to the adult company everybody puts in 110% and it shows, well done all. I have found the shows to be very heart-warming to know that there is a place there for everybody no matter what their disabilities are. Looking forward to the next production!” Emma Lay – Blackpool
