The first week in Uganda was rounded off on Friday 15th August with a presentation ceremony after all 15 participants successfully completed the Inclusive Training Programme, delivered by TramShed’s Arts Practitioner Team.
An in depth look at inclusion & inclusive arts practice, devising, creative planning, using feedback positively, working as an inclusive facilitator and so much more was included.
Everyone involved at Makerere University fully embraced the process of inclusive theatre and it is fair to say the hopes and expectations of the week were exceeded beyond our wildest dreams. The individuals involved created powerful and inspirational workshops, which have enabled the Arts Team to develop our organisation in what has been an amazing journey so far!
So what happens next…… On Monday 18th August the Arts Practitioner Team head to Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped (KSPH) and merge a group of their children with a group from Namirembe Primary School. Eight of the participants from the inclusive training will be joining the Arts Team and we cannot wait to begin inclusive workshops with the children.
The workshops will continue throughout the week and we will be performing with everyone involved in the MML Uganda project on Friday evening at the National Theatre. Further updates on the time spent with the children will be updated soon…..
